  • Friday Night at the Movies / Headhunters

Our adaptation this weekend is Headhunters, by crime writer Jo Nesbo. Nesbo’s books are incredibly popular, so I expect the movie to attract a good-sized audience. Other than that, all I can really say is that the director and actors all seem to be Norwegian, so in that respect the movie should be fairly authentic. Sorry I can’t be of more help here, but check out the trailer.

  • Friday Night at the Movies / The Broken Tower

The Broken Tower is a James Franco movie, truly. Franco directed and stars in the biopic of poet Hart Crane. Franco has a thing for poets (note his previous role as Allen Ginsburg), so there’s at least a serious chance he;ll do the topic justice. I’ve never seen anything he directed, but as a few poets have said to me about the movie, at least someone is bringing attention to poetry.

  • Friday Night at the Movies / The Raven

And the one I’m really excited about, The Raven. Not, of course, a literal adaptation (and let’s face it, no matter what you think of Poe that would make a not-great full-length movie), this movie is a thriller with a plot that included Poe as a man trying to help police stop a killer using his stories as inspiration. Love the plot, love John Cusack, and director James McTeigue made V for Vendetta, so I’m happy. Or, I will be when I’m in a dark theater with some popcorn.
