A Digital Book Award*
The categories of digital books, which will be considered eligible for entry are those completed as interactive-PDFs, enhanced eBooks, or interactive iBooks.
This prize was established to honor the craft of storytelling and to promote digital innovation.
The winner of the inaugural Digital Americana Prize for Storytelling will be chosen based on their ability to design a digital reading experience, to enrich a well-told original story with innovative interactive choices, and can demonstrate purposeful use of the medium. The winner will be awarded a cash prize of $500.
Concerning the length of the story and how it is structured: there is no page or word limit. We do suggest however a minimum of at least twenty pages (or it's equivalent in screen reading time).
In your cover letter, please include a bio and detailed notes describing the form & functionality of your book, the process behind its creation, and a brief synopsis of the story as your entry. If there were multiple authors involved please provide each contributor's name and their role in the project. After your submission is complete we will provide information about how to send the actual book-project file over (.epub, .pdf, .ibook.). You may also attach any additional or supporting documents if needed with your entry.
*For the purposes of judging the Digital Americana Prize for Storytelling: an enriched digital book may be defined as an executable file that provides a paginated or scrolling reading experience & which contains any combination of audio, video, javascript (or other additional coding), hyperlinks, and/or other interactive features or elements.
